Abstract

The purposes of this research are to describe the index difficulty and discriminating power in odd semester of mathematics test items in eleventh grade of science. This research is qualitative descriptive method and the subject of this research are the students of SMA Negeri 1 Kupang. This research started by took the data from the result of odd semester of mathematics test items. From the data the researcher analyzing the index difficulty and discriminating power used anates also manual program based the criteria of index difficulty and discriminating power. Based on the result data research that has obtained: the questions that has given to the students to do; it has not fulfill the condition of proportion the index difficulty which balanced. Based on the analysis result about index difficulty showed that from 30 items, there are 24 items which divided in easy, 5 items are medium and 1 is difficulty. Based on the test of discriminating power in odd semester of mathematics test in the eleventh grade of science in SMA Negeri 1 Kupang in the school year 2015/2016 showed that: (1) 12 items has an excelent discriminating power, and 4 items has good discriminating power, explained by the ability from the other students. (2) There are 2 items has enough discriminating power. From these test, students has bad ability can do the test well the the students has excelent ability. (3) there 11 items test has not make differences abou t students ability. From 11 items, the total of students can do the test well almost same with the students has bad ability. (4) there are 3 items has similarity total of students has excelent and bad ability. (5) from 1 item total of students can do the test well more that students has bad ability. Based on the result, the researcher is expected: (1) the education world can use this research’s result to make the valid items, should be pay attention in index difficulty and discriminating power. (2) The school must give modern experience for the teachers about how to produce the good test items. (3) From this research, the researcher expected can used it to make the valid test items as a value measurement of students’ result achievement.
