Abstract

The aims of this study were 1) to find out the description of compliance, supervision, knowledge and motivation of nurses at St. Carolus Borromeus. 2) To find out whether supervision and knowledge have a significant effect on nurse compliance in documenting nursing care at St. Carolus Borromeus Kupang. 3) To find out whether supervision and knowledge have a significant effect on the motivation of nurses at St. Carolus Borromeus Kupang. 4) To find out whether motivation has a significant effect on nurse compliance at St. Carolus Borromeus Kupang. 5) To find out whether motivation mediates the effect of supervision and the effect of knowledge on nurse compliance at St. Carolus Borromeus Kupang. This type of research is quantitative with cross sectional analytic research design. The number of samples is 50 nurses. The types of data are quantitative data and qualitative data. The data collection technique used a questionnaire, while the data analysis technique was descriptive statistical analysis and Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (SEM-PLS) analysis. The results of the descriptive statistical analysis stated that the variables of compliance and motivation in the inpatient unit at St. Carolus Borromeus Kupang is in the good category. Meanwhile, the variables of supervision and knowledge of nurses in the inpatient unit at St. Carolus Borromeus Kupang is in the very good category. The results of the path analysis showed that supervision (0.315; sig. 0.573) had an effect but not significant on nurse compliance. Supervision (2.978; sig. 0.003), Knowledge (2.520; sig. 0.012) has a significant effect on nurse motivation. Motivation (2.686; sig. 0.007) has a significant effect on nurse compliance. The results of the coefficient of determination (R2) stated that the contribution of the influence of supervision, knowledge and motivation variables on nurse compliance variables in this study amounted to 52.8% and the contribution of the influence of supervision and knowledge variables to nurse motivation variables in this study amounted to 45.3%. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that the head of the inpatient unit at the St. Carolus Borromeus Kupang to maintain supervision and knowledge and not to be complacent with this result because it still needs to be improved to improve the quality of hospital services to a very good level.
