Abstract
Progression chords are chords that are often used in several types of music, especially jazz music. To apply chord progressions in a song, it is necessary to know the type and process of formation. This research was conducted on the fourth semester students of the music education study program at Unwira Kupang. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning process of introducing basic jazz chord progressions on guitar. Researchers used imitation and drill methods which were exemplified directly by researchers and followed by research subjects by repeating repeatedly. This study uses a qualitative approach. The selection of data collection methods and instruments used literature study, field study and observation. The results of this study indicate that the process of introducing basic jazz chord progressions using the imitation and drill method to the fourth semester students of music education went well. Even though there are so many obstacles, the research subjects can master and perform the chords that have been progressed smoothly. From the results of the final video performance, participants were able to play and master the chords that have been progressed in the Autumn Leaves song well.
