Abstract

This research is a qualitative research that aims to describe students' conceptual understanding in solving matrix problems. The subjects in this study were three students of class X MIA1 with high, medium and low abilities. The data collected is in the form of a concept understanding task that is explored through interviews based on indicators on the ability to understand concepts which consist of restating a concept, classifying objects according to certain properties according to the concept and using, utilizing, and selecting certain procedures or operations. Data analysis includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Checking the validity of the data using time triangulation. After the data was presented and analyzed, it was concluded that high-ability students met the three indicators, moderately capable students met two indicators and low-ability students met two indicators.
