Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of using learning video media on students' understanding of comparative concepts and to describe students' understanding of comparative concepts taught using learning video media. This study uses mixed study methods (mixed method) quantitative and qualitative. The sample is class VIIA students, totaling 27 people from all class VII students. The instruments in this study were written tests, interviews and documentation. This instrument is used to obtain data on the understanding of students' comparative concepts which are taught using learning video media in the form of an initial test (pretest) and a final test (posttest). The results of the pretest and posttest were analyzed using the N-gain test, statistical tests and achievement of competency indicators in the lesson plans. The results showed that based on the N-gain test there was an increase in students' understanding of comparative concepts after being taught using learning video media in the moderate category, based on statistical tests there was a significant effect on the use of learning video media on students' understanding of comparative concepts and based on achievement indicators competence, there are 3 findings, namely: students who experience an increase, students who do not experience an increase (constant) and students who experience a decrease. So it can be concluded that there is an increase and influence in understanding the comparative concept of students who are taught using learning video media.
