Abstract

ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS' ERRORS IN SOLVING HOTS TYPE MATH PROBLEMS ACCORDING TO NEWMAN PROCEDURE This study aims to analyze students' errors in solving HOTS type problems using Newman's procedure. This type of research is qualitative. The research subjects were students of class VIII B SMPK St. Familia who were taken 2 subjects based on the results of discussions with the subject teacher. Data collection using written test method and interview method. The results of the study obtained 4 types of errors, namely: (1) errors in understanding the problem, (2) transformation errors, (3) process skills errors, and (4) errors in writing the final answer. The causes of errors from within students are students are not able to write the known things and things asked in the problem, not used to writing mathematical formulas, not careful in carrying out the calculation process, and unable to write the solution method correctly.
