Abstract
Percussion comes from Latin term Percussio that means beating and percussus the noun that means beat. Percussion music instruments also named Percussion instruments, which means music insruments that produce sounds by beating, pecussion, shaking, rubbed, or other action that makes object vibrate with stick or with a bare hand. Percussion has a intimate link with one of music element , “rhythmic”. Main problems of this research are how the learning process of Percussion solo music with used goods and how to apply rudiment pattern single stroke, double stroke, and paradiddle in solo percussion used goods play via imitation and drill method to XI Class students. Aims of this research are to introduce used goods percussion and to look how important basic play of single stroke, double stroke and paradiddle in learning percussion. Methods in this research is action research. Data collection technique that used are observation, interview and documentation. This research is descriptive qualitative to reveal phenomenon that happen in learning percussion. Rudiment pattern single stroke, double stroke and paradidle as an object that researched. Research location is in SMA Swasta Beringin Kupang. Research results were found based on field finding data obtained during the research process are Learning used percussion music using the Imitation and Drill method for Class XI Students of SMA Swasta Beringin Kupang which was conducted for 15 meetings was found to be quite effective. In this study, percussion music can also be played using used goods by one person who play solo several rhythmic patterns, where to play it requires mastery of rudiments or basic techniques. The process of introducing used percussion solos as well as the process of applying single stroke, double stroke and paradiddle rudiment patterns is not easy. In order to arrive at a good result, the three research subjects were guided intensely and continuously from the first meeting to the final meeting, so that in the process of taking the video results, the three research subjects succeeded in playing percussion solos accompanying the model of the Believer song well. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that: 1) Rudiments are very fundamental (basic), because rudiments can form the foundation for playing percussion and make it easier for a percussionist to explore patterns of his playing, because they contain basic sticking patterns that can be developed into various variations and possibilities, 2) Used goods found in the surrounding environment or other household waste can be modified into interesting musical instruments and if studied with the right method can increase students' interest and creativity in learning percussion.
