Abstract

Suli Kosu creation dance is a new creation dance created by researchers. Researchers created this dance based on the results of observations and interviews regarding the activities of farmers planting rice in the fields. The main problem in this study is how the application of the Suli Kosu creation dance of Bajawa ethnicity using the imitation and drill method for class X dance interest students at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang. The purpose of this study is to describe the process of applying the Bajawa ethnic Suli Kosu creation dance using the imitation and drill methods. This research uses a type of qualitative research. The research method used is field action research. How to obtain data in the form of literature study, observation, interviews, and documentation which are analyzed descriptively qualitative. The application of Suli Kosu dance creations to class X dance interest students at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang is carried out using 2 learning methods, namely the imitation and drill methods. he Suli Kosu creation dance training process begins with warming up the limbs that will embody dance movements including the feet, hands, and waist to avoid injury during training as well as to ease foot movements when combining with hand movements. The Suli Kosu dance variety training is carried out through 3 sessions, namely the introduction of the variety of movements, the merging session with music, and the polishing session. The training process is carried out by means of researchers modeling a variety of movements which are then imitated by research subjects and practiced repeatedly. The results showed that the application of the Suli Kosu creation dance of Bajawa ethnicity using the imitation and drill method in class X dance interest students at SMA Negeri 4 Kupang has achieved good results, namely students have been able to dance Suli Kosu creation dance by mastering 3 dance elements in the form of wiraga, wirama, and wirasa.
