Abstract

Ensemble music is a presentation of music played together using several musical instruments that sound harmoniously. In general, ensemble music has been taught to all students at SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara. Based on interviews with cultural arts teachers in order to obtain preliminary data, the researcher concluded that students in general have not been able to play similar ensemble music. The main problem in this study is how to apply recorder ensemble music playing with the Gundul Pacul song model to students of class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara. Thus, the purpose of this research is to find out the process of applying recorder ensemble music games with the Gundul Pacul song model to students of class VIII A SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara. This research used a qualitative approach, while the research method used was class action research. The learning method used was drill. Data collection techniques used observation and interviews. The research data were analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that 1) the application of recorder ansamber music games was carried out in 8 learning activities. By using the drill method as an active learning approach that focuses on structured, directed, and repetitive exercises with attention to speed and accuracy; 2) The drill method in general is able to increase the effectiveness of learning so that students are able to play the recorder with proper dancing techniques, breathing, and are able to master notation; 3) During the learning process, the researcher found difficulties in the displacement of fingers on each note where the dance is not yet good and regular; opening and closing the recorder hole the dance is not yet flexible; and breathing techniques. These difficulties can be overcome by increasing the frequency of practice.
