Abstract
The Hui musical instrument is a musical instrument from the Ngada area which is played by picking, shaking and hitting. In Watusipi Village, South Golewa District, Ngada District, this Hui musical instrument was taught by several parents where they were a musical group in ancient times. This musical instrument has become widespread in every village in Ngada district, one of which is Watusipi village. In 1970 this Hui musical instrument began to develop in Watusipi Village until now which is still led by Mr. Yosep Salo. The development of this music is not in line with the competence expected in learning regional musical instruments, one of the problems is the lack of training and attention from parents regarding the importance of regional musical instruments, so (OMK) tend to play modern musical instruments rather than regional musical instruments. even though some OMK already have skills in playing musical instruments such as okalele, bass strings and maracas and many other regional musical instruments. Based on the description above, this study aims to improve the skills of playing Hui musical instruments for OMK Watusipi Village, Golewa Selatan District, Ngada Regency with the Dhegha-dhegha song model. In the process of this research the researcher used two methods, namely: 1) Imitation method is a way that is done by someone by giving an example and then followed by imitating what has been exemplified. 2) Drill method is a training model that is carried out repeatedly. In this study the researchers also carried out three stages of research, namely: 1) The initial stage is conducting interviews and recruiting OMK members, determining training schedules, and providing knowledge about traditional musical instruments related to Hui musical instruments. 2) The core stage is applying game techniques and providing directions and Dhegha-dhegha song scores. 3) The final stage, staging as well as taking a video. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that OMK children in Watusipi Village, South Golewa District, Ngada Regency can already play the Hui musical instrument with the Dhegha-dhegha song model. Even though there are various difficulties, these can be overcome by using imitation and drill methods.
