Abstract

This research is a descriptive qualitative research with the aim of describing the numeracy abilities of junior high school students in solving Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) questions. The subjects of this study were three grade VIII students of SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang who were given numeracy test questions and then interviewed. Data collection techniques used in this study are test and interview techniques. The results of this research are based on the results of the numeracy skills test and also interviews conducted by students with high mathematical abilities who are able to understand the 3 indicators of numeracy skills. Students with moderate mathematical abilities are able to understand 2 indicators of numeracy ability only on the third indicator to conclude results so students can complete the test but there is an error in solving the problem. Students with low mathematical abilities are only able to understand 1 indicator while the other two indicators, namely analyzing information in the form of tables, students are not able to understand it and also for indicators to interpret the results of the analysis students can only work up to the first step.
