Abstract

Mixed ensemble is a musical performance together using more than one type of musical instrument. In mixed ensemble learning, students are required to be able to play various types of musical instruments such as, recorder, pianica, classical guitar, drum, maracas and gong. However, according to the experience and observations of researchers, mixed ensemble learning in junior high school children is still very lacking. The main problem in this research is how the process of playing mixed ensemble with Malam Bae song model for students of class VIII SMPS Lembah Kelapa Kiwangona and how cohesiveness in mixed ensemble music playing with Malam Bae song model in class VIII SMPS Lembah Kelapa Kiwangona, East Flores Regency. The purpose of this study was to determine the learning process of mixed ensemble playing with the Malam Bae song model in class VIII SMPS Lembah Kelapa Kiwangona and to find out the cohesiveness in mixed ensemble playing with the Malam Bae song model in class VIII SMPS Lembah Kelapa Kiwangona. In this study, researchers used the field action research method. This type of research is qualitative research. The learning methods used are imitation and drill methods. To obtain data, researchers used observation techniques, interviews, documentation. The results showed that the learning process was carried out through several stages, namely the initial stage, the core stage, and the final stage. Through the application of imitation and drill learning methods, students are able to apply the skills of playing music that have been learned and presented in the form of ensemble performances and documented in the form of videos as the final form of research. Based on the results of the above research, it can be concluded that the Mixed Music Ensemble Game with the Song Model "Malam Bae" for Class VIII Students of SMPS Lembah Kelapa Kiwang Ona, East Flores Regency is successful and quite effective in improving the skills of class VIII students of SMPS Lembah Kelapa Kiwangona.
