Abstract

Phasering is the rule of breaking language sentences and musical sentences into shorter parts, but still having a unity of meaning. The problem in this research is OMK St. Benedict Muleng still finds it difficult to sing using good phrasing techniques so that the meaning or message of the song is not conveyed properly. Therefore this study aims to find out the process of applying the phrasering technique in the choir and knowing the importance of the phrasering technique being sung in the choir. This study used the field action method. The approach in this study was a descriptive qualitative approach with 12 members of the OMK St. Benedict Muleng. Data collection techniques obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the process of practicing the application of the phrasering technique for the song I'm Thankful to You first by practicing standing positions, practicing breathing techniques, scales and etudes before entering the model song, so that participants can understand how to sing with good phrasering techniques when performing the song I'm Thankful for You even though they haven't achieved maximum results. Even though there are difficulties experienced when practicing the song Aku Bersyukur PadaMu with the phrasering technique, all of this can be overcome with exercises and also the method used, namely the drill method so that they can apply the phrasering technique even though the results are not optimal. Based on the results of the research and discussion above, it can be concluded that the process of applying the phrasering technique to the song Aku Bersyukur PadaMu in the OMK St. choir group. Benedict Muleng, Tanjung Bunga, East Flores, has not achieved good results, there are still many shortcomings and is not perfect.
