Abstract

The background of this research is the problem of very low student learning outcomes where students in singing show they are unable to produce clear articulation representations, poor vocal technique, irregular breathing, and unbalanced highs and lows of notes (balance). The main causal factors are students showing boredom in the learning process, lack of learning resources and learning media that can stimulate students' brain systems in receiving subject matter, and limitations of teachers in educating and influencing students in learning. The problem in this study is whether the use of audio-visual multi- media in vocal learning can improve vocal abilities in unison singing in class VII-A SMP Angkasa Kupang? The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of audio-visual multi-media in improving vocal skills in unisono singing in class VII A students of SMP Angkasa Kupang. This research use desciptive qualitative approach; while the research method used is classroom action research. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, documentation and tests. The research results were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. The research was carried out in two cycles where each cycle consisted of planning actions, carrying out actions, making observations, and reflecting. The research subjects consisted of 25 students. The results showed that in the first cycle the number of students who passed was 13 students, then in the second cycle it increased to 22 students. Thus the results of this study can be concluded that the use of audio-visual media in vocal learning can improve unisono singing vocal techniques in class VII.a SMP Angkasa Kupang.
