Abstract
The classical guitar is a stringed instrument that is much loved and studied by all ages because it has a very acoustic sound and can always be enjoyed at any time. Guitar is also a subject of music education study programs. The purpose of this study is to introduce classical guitar solo playing for fourth semester students interested in guitar at Widya Mandira Catholic University Kupang. In the training process, the researcher used imitation and drill learning methods with a qualitative approach. To collect data, the authors used field study techniques consisting of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the training process carried out by researchers introduced classical guitar solo playing with the Air on the G string song model to students interested in guitar in the Music Education Study Program, Widya Mandira Catholic University, Kupang. The first meeting began with an explanation of the meaning of the guitar, classical guitar organology, sitting position when playing the guitar, the roles and functions of the right and left fingers, and song material to be played in the research process. From the second meeting until the twelfth meeting, the researcher gave exercises in the form of etudes and model songs in parts until they obtained good results. The final stage was to take a video of the performance by showing the song Air on the G string. During the rehearsal process, many obstacles were found; among others, the research subjects had not mastered the applied strum pattern, and the research subjects had difficulty mastering the tempo in classical guitar solo playing. Based on the results of the research and processing of existing data, it can be concluded that the training process using the drill method and the imitation method provides many good changes and developments for research subjects in learning classical guitar solo playing because these two methods place more emphasis on repeated practice. and imitate what has been practiced by researchers.
