Abstract

Learning the art of pianika ensemble music in Class VIII of Matawoga Catholic Junior High School Sumba Tengah is still oriented towards theory so that the ability of students to play a type of pianika ensemble is still low. The problem in this study is how to improve the ability to play a pianika type ensemble in Class VIII students of Matawoga Catholic Junior High School Central Sumba by using the song model "Bolelebo". This study aims to improve the ability of Class VIII students of Matawoga Catholic Junior High School in playing pianika ensembles using the "Bolelebo" song model. This research uses a qualitative approach. The method in this study is the class action research method. The learning process of a pianika type ensemble using imitation and drill methods lasts for 7 face-to-face learning. The imitation method is used to imitate the playing pattern of a pianika-type ensemble and the drill method is used to train students' technical skills in playing a pianica-type ensemble. Data were collected by observation techniques and interviews with research subjects (action subjects). The research data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive analysis. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that learning pianika ensembles with the song model "Bolelebo" using imitation and drill methods effectively improves students' abilities in aspects of playing melodies with proper fingering, good coordination between melodies, and rhythms in pianika simultaneously, and cohesiveness in collaborating when playing pianika-type ensembles.
