Abstract
Culture is a way of life that is developed and shared by a group of people which is passed down from generation to generation. Culture or culture comes from the Sanskrit language, namely buddhayah, which is the plural form of buddhi (mind or reason) which is interpreted as things related to the human mind and reason. With culture we can determine the level of human civilization that supports it. However, the level of culture and civilization is largely determined by the ability of humans themselves to face the challenges of the natural surroundings or the social environment in which they live and live. This research aims to increase the self-awareness of the Lambanapu people about the importance of understanding the meaning and function of traditional songs. Which focuses on the traditional song "kanduku woka". The method used is the field action method, with the aim of conducting interviews and analyzing the results of the interviews. Then analyze using words and arrange them using sentences from the interview results. This research involved community leaders in Lambanapu, East Sumba Regency. Data was collected through observations and writings which were analyzed by researchers about the songs.
