Abstract
This research was written by Ermelinda Soi Fahik (31121032) from the Development Economics study program, Faculty of Economics and Business, with the research title "The Influence of Digital Wallet Adoption Rate on the Community of Merdeka Village, Kupang City," under the guidance of Dr. Marius Masri S.E., MSi as Advisor I and Brother Salomon Leki, SVD, S.E., M.Ec. Dev as Advisor II. The objectives of this research were: 1) to understand the perception of the Digital Wallet Adoption Rate regarding Security, Convenience, and Trust among the community in Merdeka Village, Kupang City; 2) to determine if Security significantly influences the Digital Wallet Adoption Rate in community transaction patterns in Merdeka Village, Kupang City; 3) to determine if Convenience significantly influences the Digital Wallet Adoption Rate in community transaction patterns in Merdeka Village, Kupang City; 4) to determine if Trust significantly influences the Digital Wallet Adoption Rate in community transaction patterns in Merdeka Village, Kupang City. The population in this research was the community of Merdeka Village, Kupang City, who use digital wallets, totaling 2,114 people. The sample in this research consisted of 80 respondents using the snowball sampling technique. This research used two types of data: data by source, utilizing primary and secondary data, and data by nature, utilizing quantitative and qualitative data. Data collection techniques included questionnaires via Google Form, interviews, and documentation. The analysis techniques used were descriptive analysis and inferential statistical analysis using SEM PLS. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the digital wallet adoption rate variable was 3.84, the security variable was 3.96, the convenience variable was 4.04, and the trust variable was 4.00. Each of these variables was categorized as "agree." The hypothesis testing results indicated that Security has a significant influence on the digital wallet adoption rate with a path coefficient of 0.504 (t = 3.038), and Convenience also has a significant influence with a path coefficient of 0.306 (t = 2.678). However, Trust did not show a significant influence on the digital wallet adoption rate with a path coefficient of 0.103 (t = 0.609). Overall, an R-square value of 0.764 shows that 76.4% of the variation in the digital wallet adoption rate can be explained by the independent variables used in the model. The remaining 23.6% is explained by other factors outside the model. The conclusion of this research is that security and convenience are important factors in encouraging digital wallet adoption. Although people use digital wallets, they may not fully trust the questionnaire links shared. Most of the variation in the adoption rate can be explained by the independent variables, which implies that service providers need to prioritize improving and communicating about security and convenience to encourage wider adoption.
