Abstract

This research was written by Maria Holintia Rani (31121038), Development Economics Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, with the research title “Analysis of Factors Affecting the Demand for Digital Wallet Usage as a Non-Cash Payment Tool for Unwira Students,” under the guidance of Dr. Marius Masri S.E., Msi as the first advisor and Bruder Salomon Leki, SVD, S.E., M.Ec Dev as the second advisor. This research aims to 1) analyze perceptions about the demand for digital wallets, income, efficiency and security among Unwira Kupang students 2) assess the influence of student income on the use of digital wallets as a non-cash payment tool 3) investigate the influence of student efficiency on the use of digital wallets as a non-cash payment tool 4) evaluate the influence of student security on the use of digital wallets as a non-cash payment tool. The sample in this study was 80 respondents. The types of data in this study are qualitative data and quantitative data, the data sources in this study are primary data and secondary data. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires via Google Form, interviews and documentation. The analysis techniques used are descriptive analysis and inferential statistical analysis using SEM PLS. The results of the descriptive analysis illustrate that the digital wallet usage variable is 4.16%, the income variable is 38%, the efficiency variable is 4.00% and the security variable is 3.99%. Each of these variables is included in the agree category. The results of hypothesis testing show that income does not have a positive and significant effect on digital wallet usage. Efficiency has a positive and significant effect on digital wallet usage, and security does not have a positive and significant effect on digital wallet usage. The R-square (R2) value of 0.668 or 66.8% explains that income, efficiency and security affect digital wallet usage, while the remaining 33.2% is influenced by other variables not included in this study. The conclusion of this research is that digital wallet usage among students is influenced by several factors, namely perceptions of demand, income, efficiency, and security. In general, students have a positive perception of these variables. Efficiency in the use of digital wallets has been shown to have a positive and significant effect on the adoption of digital wallets as a non-cash payment tool. This means that students tend to use digital wallets more if they feel that transactions can be carried out more quickly and easily.
