Abstract

Traditional markets are centers of economic, social, and cultural activity that require restructuring to compete with modern market developments. This study aims to redesign the Pada Traditional Market in Lembata Regency using a modern architectural approach that is functional, efficient, and environmentally friendly. The main problems identified include a chaotic layout, minimal supporting facilities, and a lack of comfort and spatial efficiency. Using a modern design approach, the market was designed with attention to zoning, organized circulation, the application of sustainability principles, and the preservation of local cultural values. The research methods used included field observations, interviews, and literature studies to produce a design that is responsive to user needs and the local context. The resulting design is expected to increase the competitiveness of the traditional market, enhance visitor comfort, and support environmental and local economic sustainability.
