Abstract
Nowadays, every individual wants to become a keyboard player. Of course, to become a keyboard player, you need to know the techniques in playing it. One of them is the inversion chord technique. Based on observations and interviews, most of the students at SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang have never learned a keyboard instrument. There are three students who have studied privately or are self-taught. The material mastered is still limited to the introduction of basic chords or main chords. The researcher provides inversion chord learning to accompany the song Marilah Ya Yesus in keyboard playing. The main problems in this study are: 1) How is the learning process of inversion chords in accompanying the song Marilah Ya Yesus for keyboard-interested students at SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang? 2) What are the difficulties experienced and the solutions provided in learning inversion chords to accompany the song "Marilah Ya Yesus" for keyboard-interested students at SMPK Rosa Mistyca Kupang? The objectives of this study are 1) To determine the process of learning inversion chords to accompany the song "Marilah Ya Yesus" for keyboard-interested students at SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang. 2) To determine the difficulties experienced and the solutions provided in learning inversion chords to accompany the song "Marilah Ya Yesus" for keyboard-interested students at SMPK Rosa Mistyca Kupang. This study uses a qualitative approach with the type of field action research. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the process of learning inversion chords to accompany the song Marilah Ya Yesus for keyboard-interested students at SMPK Rosa Mystica Kupang is carried out through the drill method in three stages, namely the initial stage (recruitment and introduction of materials), the core stage (practice inversion chord techniques and song accompaniment), and the final stage (presentation of the song as a whole). The final result of this process is that although students have difficulty in using inversion chords at the beginning of learning, through repeated practice and direct guidance from researchers, they are able to accompany the song correctly and well. It can be concluded that the application of the drill method has proven effective in improving students' skills in playing inversion chords on the keyboard.
