Abstract

This research examines the function and form of presentation of the feko genda musical instrument in Ndungga Village, East Ende subdistrict. The research problems studied are (1) what is the form of presentation of feko genda music (2) what is the function of feko genda music in Ndungga Village, East Ende District. The objectives of this problem are (1) To determine and analyze the form of presentation of the feko genda musical instrument in Ndungga Village, East Ende subdistrict. (2) To find out the function of feko genda music in the lives of the people of Ndungga Village, East Ende District. The approach used in this research is qualitative with ethnomusicological methods. Data collected through observation, interviews and documentation techniques. The data analysis technique uses an interactive analysis model consisting of data collection, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the presentation of feko genda music takes the form of an ensemble involving male players who are differentiated from flute players by one person playing the main melody, and the drum group is played by five people as rhythm controllers, in a semi-circle formation that takes place in an open room. Feko genda music has functions, namely as entertainment, dance accompaniment, means of communication, education, and welcoming guests. Until now, feko genda music is still maintained as a tribute to the ancestors who passed it down.
