Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of online learning and student achievement during online-based learning in Fuzzy Set and Complex Functions courses. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative research. The study population was all students of the Widya Mandira Catholic University Mathematics Education Study Program. The research samples were 30 fifth semester students who program Fuzzy Set courses and 41 seventh semester students who program Complex Functions courses. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire and UTS scores. The data analysis used descriptive statistics, which illustrates that 63% of the respondents of the fifth semester students achieved the effective criteria and 59% of the respondents of the seventh semester students were also in the effective criteria. However, if it is further reviewed based on the achievement of learning achievement, the seventh semester students who take part in the implementation of online learning are in the sufficient category with the percentage achievement is 58%, while students who take part in the implementation of online learning in the fifth semester are in the good category with an achievement percentage of 86%. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that online-based learning that is applied is categorized as effective for students of the Unwira mathematics education study program, especially in the Fuzzy Set course in semester V and Complex Functions courses in semester VII of the 2020/2021 academic year.
