Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of emotional intelligence and interest in learning on the learning achievement of class VII junior high school. This type of research is quantitative research. The population in this study were all students of class VII private SMP St. Theresia Tuapukan Kupang Timur and the research sample, namely students of class VII A with the sampling technique is simple random sampling. Data collection technique using questionnaires and mathematics learning achievement tests. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS program. From the analysis, based on the classical assumption test, hypothesis testing, statistics, significance. Emotional intelligence and interest in learning have influence on mathematics learning achievement and are obtained based on the results of multiple regression analysis with F = 30,553 with significance 0,000, and obtained Ftable = 4,41 based on the above criteria 30,553 = F > 4,41 = Ftable. Thus reject H0 and accept Ha. means that is a significance effect of emotional intelligence and interest in learning on the learning achievement of grade VII junior high school students. Based on the results of the study, the researcher concluded that there was a significance effect of emotional intelligence and interest in learning achievement of students of class VII private SMP St. Theresia Tuapukan Kupang Timur.
