Abstract

The main problem in this research is how to solve word problem ability using cooperative learning model type TAI in sub subject of the sales price, purchase, profit and loss to students of SMPK Sta. Familia Sikumana in the school year 2015/2016. Type of this research is descriptive qualitative research. Data collection techniques that provide problem soulving task (TPM) to students, then followed by an interview arranged by the indicator ability to solve word problem and further observations to the learning model used in the learning process. In this study used three subjects were selected based on their level math skills that students are capable of high mathematics,medium,and low. The selection of research subjects in consultation with subject teachers of mathematics, but not in spite of this mathematical abilities. The results of this study, based on exposure data and research findings, found some similarities and differences in the ability and subject with low ability. Subject with high ability and subject with medium ability has problem solving ability is good. While the differences in ability to solve word problem,all three subjects located at DLJ is still not able to resolve the matter of the word based on the results of tests on TPM 1, TPM 2, TPM 3. Based on these results, it is expected that teachers pay more attention to students with low ability in solving mathematical problems and use appropriate learning models in learning to help students in solving mathematical problems.
