Abstract
This study aims to find out whether there is effect of contextual learning toward mathematics learning achievement of students class XI IPA SMA Kristen 1 Kota Kupang in academic year 2015/2016. The sample in this research was 28 students in XI IPA class. The data that used in this study was value of pretest and posttest that collected from experimental class by using contextual learning. The data was analyzed by using SPSS version 23.0 and manual analysis. Before testing the hypotheses, there was prerequisite test which was normality test for pretest and posttest data. From the analysis of pretest data, there is Asymp.Sig value. (2-tailed) = 0.081> 0.05 and Dcount = 0.156 ≤ Dtable = 0.250 then H0 is accepted, thus concluded the data is normally distributed. While in posttest data, there is Asymp.Sig value. (2-tailed) = 0.070> 0.05 and Dcount = 0.158 ≤ Dtable = 0.250 then H0 is accepted, thus concluded the data is normally distributed. Hypothesis testing used paired-samples T test, after the data is analyzed and obtained sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 <0.05 and tcount = 17.331> ttable = 2.052, then reject H0, so it is concluded that there is a significant effect of contextual learning toward mathematics learning achievement in class XI SMA Kristen 1 Kota Kupang in academic year 2015/2016. The result of this research shows that contextual learning effects the mathematics learning achievement. Therefore, the author suggests for teachers to use contextual learning for mathematics learning in accordance with the material to be taught.
