Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of think pair share cooperative learning model in SMP Katolik St. Yoseph Naikoten Kupang, mathematics learning achievement of class VIII students of SMP Katolik St. Yoseph Naikoten Kupang on the think pair share type of cooperative learning model, and the effect of the think pair share type of cooperative learning on the mathematics learning achievement of eighth grade students of SMP Katolik St. Yoseph Naikoten Kupang. This research is included in quantitative research with pre-experimental research design. This research was conducted at SMP Katolik St . Yoseph Naikoten Kupang in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year. The population in this study were eighth grade students of SMP Katolik St. Yoseph Naikoten Kupang as many as six classes. The sample in this study was class VIIIE students totaling 15 students who were taken randomly using simple random sampling technique. The instruments used include observation guidelines on teacher abilities, observation guidelines on student abilities and test results. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS version 22 and the data used were taken from the pretest and posttest scores. From the results of the normality test for the pretest data, it shows that the Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.200>0.05=α and Dcount=0.126 < 0.338=Dtable, it can be concluded that H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected, which means that it is normally distributed. While the posttest data shows that the Asymp value. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.200 > 0.05= α and Dcount = 0.159 < 0.338 = Dtable, it can be concluded that H0 is accepted and Ha is rejected, which means that it is normally distributed. Hypothesis testing after the data was analyzed obtained the value of Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.000 while tcount = 12.607. For ttable, it is obtained that df = n-1, with df = 14 then the value of ttable = 2.145 is obtained. Because the value of Sig.(2-tailed) = 0.00 < = 0.05 and tcount = 12.607 > 2.145 = ttable. Based on the results obtained, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is a significant influence on the think pair share type of cooperative learning model on the mathematics learning achievement of class VIII students of SMP Katolik St. Yoseph Naikoten Kupang.
