Abstract

One of the important components in choral performances is the conductor/conductor. A conductor is someone who stands in front of a number of musicians and with all musical talents and abilities leads musical performances with appropriate expressions according to the character of the type of song, music, poetry. The problem in this research is how to apply the 4/4 time-direction technique to the children of the Chapel of St. Vincent Nonohonis Parish of Sta. Maria Mater Dolorosa Soe with the Sekami Hymn Song Model through Imitation and Drill Methods. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of the 4/4 bar pattern direction technique to children of the Chapel of St. Vincent Nonohonis Parish of Sta. Maria Mater Dolorosa Soe with the Sekami Hymn Song Model through Imitation and Drill Methods”. The research approach taken is a qualitative approach, with field action research methods. The techniques used to collect data are observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the application of the technique of directing the 4/4 bar pattern with the sekami hymn model begins with training in the technique of directing body position and hand position, training in the initial attitude, preliminary movement, and ending the song, followed by practicing the 4/4 movement pattern while singing. Sekami's hymns, which were then applied using imitation and drill methods, enabled our children to make good and correct directives. This is evidenced by the final presentation of the children together who directed the Hymn Sekami individually. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the imitation and drill methods are quite effective in the application of the 4/4 bar pattern directing technique, so that our classmates can direct the song "Hymne Sekami" appropriately and appropriately.
