Abstract

Dynamics is one of the important musical elements, which can help express the idea of a musical composition, so that it can be felt, heard, and enjoyed by the listener. SMAS Seminary Lalian has a choir called Samara Choir which consists of students of SMAS Seminary Lalian.. This choir has always been active in bearing choirs in the church as well as as a performer in school activities, but in its performances the students have not understood and sung without using dynamics. Based on the description above, a research question can be formulated that is the subject of study in this study, namely how the process of applying dynamics to the song Of the Soul of Christ by Onggo lukito through interpretation and drill methods. This study aims to determine the process of applying dynamics to the song Of The Soul of Christ by Onggo Lukito through interpretation and drill methods. In this study, the type of approach used by the research is qualitative, namely research whose data is expressed in the form of words and images. The data collection techniques used by researchers are literature studies and field studies. Literature studies are in the form of data and theories related to existing problems from various books, journals, and various other library sources, while field studies are in the form of observations, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the application of dynamic techniques to the song of the Soul of Christ by Onggo Lukito through the method of interpretation and drill by class XI students of SMAS Seminary Lalian, was carried out through three stages, namely the initial stage of recruiting and explaining material about dynamics, doing etude-etude dynamics exercises in simple song examples, the core stages of doing exercises for the application of dynamics in model songs, the final stage of stabilization and recording of the result video. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of dynamics in this song, the understanding of smas seminary lalian students towards the signs of dynamics is carried out through the process of practicing etude-etude dynamics so that smas seminary lalian students understand and feel the signs of dynamics in performing model songs, although they have difficulties but this is overcome by interpretation and drill methods.
