Abstract
The song Ule Lela nggewa is a folk song, written by Mr. Yakobus Ari, a musician from Ende Regency, especially Wolotopo Village. This song was created in 1967. The purpose of this song was to accompany the Ule Lela Nggewa dance at the inauguration of the St.Frasiscus Xaverius Wolotopo church. The problem to be conveyed from this research is the meaning of the song Ule Lela Nggewa. This study used a qualitative research approach with ethmographic methods whose data were abtained through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the song Ule Lela Nggewa was two song from different narratives that were sung as one to accompany the Ule Lela Nggewa dance. From the analysis of these two songs, they both show that this song is a sentence, as stated by Prier(1996:2), “A sentence is a number of bar spaces (usually 8 or 16 bars) which are one unit. The meaning in the song Ule lela Nggewa contains denotative and connotative meanings kite.
