Abstract

Learning achievement in mathematics in Indonesia is still relatively low, both at the national and international levels. This is because in the learning process teachers still use aapproach teacher-centered. So that students are not optimal in developing their knowledge. Therefore, one of the learning models that can observe this, it is necessary to strive for a form of learning that is able to increase the activeness and learning achievement of students is one of themodels Guided Discovery Learning. The objectives of this study are (1) to describe the application of themodel Guided Discovery Learning in mathematics learning (2) to determine the learning achievement of mathematics taught by themodel Guided Discovery Learning and (3) to determine whether or not there is an increase in learning achievement taught by themodel. GuidedDiscovery Learning. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with the type ofdesign is research control group pre-test post-test design. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMPN 17 Kupang andsamplestaken Random areVIIIA class as an experimental class and VIIIB as the control class. Collecting data using learning achievement tests, and observation. Analysis of student achievement data used ttest and N-gain. From the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that in the application of the model Guided Discovery Learning students are more active and the learning achievement of students who are taught using themodel Guided Discovery Learning is better than the learning achievement of students who are taught using conventional learning, themodel Guided Discovery Learning can improve student learning achievement.
