Abstract

Dirigen is a person whose job is perform and act as a direct leader in the presentation of an orchestra or choir. In performing the choir it is necessary to need a conductor. The author can forrmulate a problem that will be further reserached, namely : How to introduce the technique of predicting rhythm patterns 2/2 with the song model O brother through demonstration and drill methods in class VIII students of st. Francis Xavier Ruteng junior high School. This research uses a Qualititave approach, a method used by field action researches with data collection technique, in the form of Observation, interviews and documentation. The result of the study showed the Learning process of the technique of correcting the 2/2 rhythm pattern in Students of class VIII of Smpk st. Francis Xavier Ruteng was carried out in theree stages, namely: a) in the initial stage, the researcher coordinates with the principal father of st. Francis Xavier Ruteng junior high School, then coordinates with cultural arts teacher to select students who will be targeted in the research, then prepares places, cameras, song text, materials and attendance. b) the core stage, in the process of implementing learning, the research introduced the technique of predicting the 2/2 rhythm pattern in the song, o brother through demonstration and drill methods. The learning process is carried out in 8 meetings. c) target so that the researcher can find out the final result of a series of exercises that have been carried out in the previous few meetings and the result of observations and assesment of the targets from the initial meeting to the end. Based on the result of the study, it can be concluded that the learning process of introducing the technique of dictating the rhythmic pattern 2/2 even though there are difficulties, but this can be overcome through the demonstration and drill methods.
