Abstract
A recorder is a musical instrument whose sound source comes from air pressure (aerophone) and is played by blowing. However, the fact found in SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara, North Central Timor, is that students do not yet know the basic techniques in playing recorder musical instruments. Based on the background description, the problem in this research is how to learn the basic techniques of playing a recorder musical instrument through the drill and imitation method for students interested in record music at SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara, North Central Timor, with extracurricular activities. This study aims to identify and describe the basic techniques of playing a recorder musical instrument through the drill and imitation method for the students of SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara, Timor Tengah Utara. This study uses a qualitative approach, the method used by field action researchers with data collection techniques, in the form of observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that the learning process of the recorder musical instrument for the students of SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara, North Central Timor, was carried out in ten meetings. In the research process, namely the first meeting, recruiting players, determining the exercise schedule and explaining the material about recorder musical instruments, the second meeting explaining the basic techniques of playing a recorder musical instrument, the third meeting practicing simple stepping etude, the fourth meeting practicing jumping etude, the fourth meeting repeating the exercise. basic techniques and simple etude, the fifth meeting repeats the simple etude and jumping etude, the sixth meeting of the researchers gives the song that will be performed, namely the melody of the first verse of the twingkel-twingkel song, the seventh meeting of the practice continues the song of twingkel-twingkel of the second verse, the eighth meeting, repeating the melody the first and second verse twingkel-twingkel songs, the ninth meeting of song melody consolidation exercises, and the last ten performances meeting. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the process of learning the basic techniques of recording musical instruments can be carried out quite well by students of SMP Negeri 1 Biboki Utara, North Central Timor, although there are difficulties, but these can be overcome by drill and imitation methods that provide examples. and repeated exercises for students who have difficulty.
