Abstract

The problems discussed in this research are the lack of student’s participation in joining the class and also their difficulty in understanding the concept and the process of solving the mathematics problems which have impact on their achievement in studying mathematics. The objective of this research is to find out the impact of contextual teaching and learning on the achievement of junior high school student in studying mathematics. The sample used is the student of VII A class, consist of 30 students. The data used in this research is taken from the mark in the pretest and posttest of the class taught with contextual teaching and learning. The data is analyzed using the SSPS program which is the 22.0 version. Before examining hypothesis the prerequisite test is conducted. This test aims at examining the normality of the pretest and posttest data. The result of analysis attained from the pretest data is the value sig.(2-tailed) = 0.167> 0.05 and = 0.136 so the Ho is accepted. The result attained from the posttest data is the value sig. (2-tailed) = 0.158 > 0.05 and = 0.137 < so the Ho is accepted and It can be concluded that the data distribution is normal. The hypothesis is examined using the paired sample test and after analyzing the data, the value attained is sig.
