Abstract

The main issue discussed in this tesis is the extent to wich the personality traits of teacher affect the motivation of studying high school students Sint Carolus Kupang. Responding to the problem the auther explains understading the nature of teacher personality, student learning motivation and the relationship between the two through literature review. Literature review is carried out by studying various sources namely the views of experts. This tesis is compiled using quantitative descriptive method. The authors also conducted a study using a questionnaire of class X IPA2 , class X IPS and class X BAHASA as well as student and teacher interviews. The data used in this research is the questionnaire distribution of teacher personality traits and student learning motivation. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS program version 22.0. Before testing the hypothesis, the pre-rerequirement tes is testied normality for the both questionnaires. From the results of the analysis for the questionnaire of the personality traits of teacher in obtaining value sig(2-tailed) = 0,065. So the value is significant 0,065 > 0,05 and value Dcount =0,111 < Dtable = 0,172 then H0 be accepted. With the conclusion of normal distributed data. And student learning questionnaire was obtained. Value sig(2-tailed) = 0,089, so the value is significant 0,089 > 0,05 dan value Dcount = 0,106 < Dtable = 0,175 then H0 be accepted with the conclusion data distributed normally. The results of the study showed that teacher appreciate the nature of the teacher’s personality. Nevertheless, teacher are still trying to improve the personality traits of teachers. Other than that the personality of the teacher is very influential both for teachers in private, students and schools. In particular, the nature of teacher personality affects the students learning motivation in order to improve student learning achievement. Personality traits a teacher becomes an inspiration to student. Thus, teachers can determine the attitudes and actions that will be done to further dilute the nature of a teachers personality.
