Abstract

The problem in this research is "How do students 'creative thinking abilities in the two-variable linear equation system?" With the aim in this study is to describe students' creative thinking abilities in the two-variable linear equation system. This type of research is qualitative research that is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were 2 students of class IX SMPN SADI ATAMBUA as research targets. Methods of data collection through: Creative Thinking Tests, interviews and documentation. The data analysis method uses data reduction, classification, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the ability to think creatively on NAA and YB subjects is as follows: NAA and YB subjects in the step of presenting many ideas can retell what is understood in the problem, be able to find what is known and asked and be able to find several ways to solve the problem well and truly. At the completion step is able to solve the problem in a number of different ways namely by way of substitution, elimination, and combination properly and correctly. Based on the description above, it can be said that the two subjects NAA and YB are able to meet both the indicators of creative thinking abilities determined for TBK I and TBK II.
