Abstract

This study background by student are not able to solve a question without a problem. It’s impact to the low achievement of the student. One of the learning models which emphasize student to solve a problem is problem based learning. Problem based learning is a learning model to directing student into a problem, so that student able to solve the material based on existing problem. The purpose of this study is to know there’s whether or not any effect of problem based learning model on student’s mathematics learning achivement class VII SMPN 9 Kupang School year 2016/2017 on sub subject circumference and area of triangle. This study belong to quantitative research and pre-experimental method. The sampling technique is simple random sampling. So that the sample in this study is class VIIC. Based on the analysis results with SPSS 22, on the table of pared sample test signficant value gain 0.0000 with 0.05 and 2.093. The analysis result show that the significant value 0.000<0.05 and 2.093, it means Hais accepted so conclude that there’s any significant effect problem based learning model on student’s mathematics learning achievement on student class VII in SMPN 9 Kupang for sub subject circumference and area of triangle school year 2016/2017. Based the conclusion above, writer suggest that mathematics teacher can apply the problem based learning model, especially on sub subject circumference and area of triangle.
