Abstract

The aim of learning physics is said to be achieved if students have succeeded in understanding various legal concepts or formulas in physics that are used to solve physics problems in everyday life. The ability of students to solve physics problems is still lacking because they have difficulty understanding the questions asked and lack of understanding of concepts, and do not understand the units of a problem. In addition, most students work less systematically and pay less attention to the completion steps. The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of class XI IPA students at Sint Carolus Catholic High School in solving sound wave problems based on the Polya theory. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research type. The sample is 19 people. Based on data analysis, it was found that in understanding the problem the percentage of students classified as high, medium and low was 15.79%, 68.42% and 15.79%. In making a completion plan the percentage of students who are classified as high, medium and low are 36.84%, 36.84% and 26.32%. In implementing the completion plan, the percentage of students classified as high, medium and low is 0.00%, 0.00% and 100%. In reviewing the percentage of students who are classified as high, medium and low are 5.26%, 5.26% and 89.47%.
