Abstract

Music is an artistic activity that can be heard, enjoyed and felt through a musical presentation, both in vocal processing produced by human voices and playing musical instruments produced from musical instruments. Music plays an important role in education, especially in the teaching and learning process because it can be a place for students to develop their creativity, interests and talents. One of the musical arts that students must learn and master is ensemble music. Students of SMPN 10 Kota Kupang have basically received ensemble lessons both in theory and practice, but based on the observations of researchers while carrying out PPL activities at the school, students have not been able to play music ensembles well. The main problem in this research is how to improve the skill of playing music ensemble such as pianika for the music interest students of SMPN 10 Kota Kupang. Thus, the purpose of this research is to improve the skill of playing music ensemble such as pianica in students of music interest of SMPN 10 Kota Kupang. This research is a field action research using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used by researchers are observation, interview and documentation. This research was conducted in 8 learning activities using the drill method as an active learning approach that focuses on structured, directed, and repetitive exercises with attention to speed and accuracy. The results showed that the application of the drill method in learning similar ensemble music was effective in improving dancing skills, game balance and cohesiveness in playing similar pianika ensemble music for music interest students.
