Abstract

Students at SMAK Gabriel Wanibesak school, researchers see that many students have interest and skills in playing musical instruments but often at school students only play music solo and only play guitar instruments. The main problem of this research is how is the learning process of mixed ensemble playing and mixed ensemble playing parts in the folk song Oras Loro Malirin base tone C through imitation and drill methods for students of class XI Ipa SMAK Gabriel Wanibesak? The purpose to be achieved in this study is to find out the learning process of mixed ensemble playing in the folk song Oras Loro Malirin base tone C through the method of imitation and drill for students of class XI Ipa SMAK Gabriel Wanibesak. This research is qualitative in nature, the method used in this research is class action research, the data collection techniques used are literature study and field study which consists of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the learning process was carried out through steps starting from the initial stage, the core stage and the final stage to get good results even though the students experienced difficulties such as the tempo of the game which tends to change and the sound of musical instruments that are not balanced when playing music but all difficulties can be overcome so that students can play mixed ensemble games well. Based on the results of the above research, it can be concluded that learning mixed ensemble playing in the folk song Oras Loro Malirin base note C through the imitation and drill method is quite easy and effective in improving students' skills in playing musical instruments in the form of an ensemble.
