Abstract

The dance created by Pepek Welu is a new dance that is worked on based on the livelihoods of the Manggarai people, especially farmers. Pepek Welu or the process of breaking candlenut, "pepek" which means breaking, "welu" which means candlenut. The type of dance used in this study is the new creation dance, namely the cultivation which still follows the rules of traditional culture and the results can still be felt from which region original and original. The formulation of the problems in this research are (1) What is the process of learning the Pepek Welu creative dance, (2) What is the form of presentation of the Pepek Welu creative dance and (3) Is the imitation and drill method effective with learning the Pepek Welu creative dance. The purposes of this study were (1) to introduce the Pepek Welu creation dance which was made based on the traditions of the Manggarai people, (2) to find out the form of presentation of the Manggarai ethnic pepek welu dance and (3) to find out the learning outcomes of the Manggarai ethnic pepek welu creation dance. The type of research used in this study is a qualitative approach, the method used is the field action method. To obtain data, researchers used field study techniques consisting of observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research were carried out through the following steps: the researcher collected members of the Glamor Art dance studio as research subjects. The researcher explained the material and synopsis of the new creation dance, namely the Pepek Welu dance which would be studied by members of the Glamor Art studio, then the researcher guided the participants by displaying the variations one by one by first being given an example by the researcher and then followed by the participants, with repeated exercises. under the guidance of researchers as trainers. Even though there are difficulties, these problems are overcome by the drill method. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the learning of the Pepek Welu creation dance for members of the Glamor Art Studio Labuan Bajo, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency through the method can be demonstrated quite well.
