Abstract
This research is entitled "Framing Analysis of News Reporting of presidential candidate Anies Baswedan on Tempo.Co Online Media Ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) Period 1 May-30 June 2023". The 2024 presidential election will be the hottest contest in the 5-yearly elections involving three pairs of presidential candidates. The role of the media in the 2024 presidential election contestation is very urgent. This is because the media has an important role in forming public opinion about the ideas of the presidential candidates. It is not impossible for political parties to take part in the 2024 presidential election. For this reason, researchers want to know the independence of the online media tempo.co in constructing news ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) for the period 1 May to 30 June 2023. In this research, the theory used by the author is agenda setting and uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Meanwhile, to collect data, the author used Robert N Entman's framing to see the framing of news coverage of presidential candidate Anies Baswedan on the online media Tempo.co. Robert N Entman's framing includes Define Problems (problem definitions), Diagnoses Causes (causes of problems), Make moral Judgment (moral judgment), and Treatment recommendations (Problem resolution). The results of research conducted by researchers on the framing of news coverage of presidential candidate Anies Baswedan ahead of the presidential election on the online media Tempo.co, researchers found that the online media Tempo.co highlighted a bad image of presidential candidate Anies Baswedan ahead of the 2024 general election. This can be seen in several news stories that have been carried out. analysis. Thus, researchers concluded that the online media Tempo.co's framing of presidential candidate Anies Baswedan was impartial. This can be seen from several news stories that have been analyzed using Robert N Entman's framing. In the 5 news stories about presidential candidate Anies Baswedan that were analyzed, online media Tempo.co found partiality towards other candidates. Meanwhile, in the news, presidential candidate Anies Baswedan only emphasizes his bad aspects. The framing carried out by the online media Tempo.co appears to show a more negative side towards presidential candidate Anies Baswedan.
