Abstract
The research titled "Community Participation in Thematic Tourism Program in Golo Bilas Village, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency" aims to address the following research question: How does community participation occur in thematic tourism programs in Golo Bilas Village, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency? The study uses the community participation concept in rural tourism development as its theoretical framework. The primary sources of data are informants, while secondary sources of data are related documents. The research uses data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis is carried out through data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that (1) the community's intellectual participation in Golo Bilas Village is carried out through proposing ideas for supporting tourism activities such as developing local products, tour guides, and homestay development. They also propose infrastructure development such as parking facilities and public toilets. Community-led initiatives such as traditional dance performances are also proposed by village leaders. (2) The level of community participation in terms of human resources is still low, with only three people actively participating. For tour packages that attract tourists, there are nine options such as visits to traditional houses, traditional ceremonies, traditional dances (reception ceremonies, traditional dances from Aka Woja and Mawo (traditional dances for harvesting rice), traditional dances from Rangkuk Alu, traditional dances from Ndake, traditional dances from Caci and traditional dances from Danding. (3) Community participation in terms of material resources is still limited due to financial constraints. The village contributes an annual fee of IDR 500,000. (4) The community provides skills such as traditional dance performances like Caci, Rangkuk Alu and Danding. Food sales include Manggarai coffee, herbal medicine and cendramata sold by the village community through handicrafts such as Songke cloths, shawls and hats made from Manggarai fabric. Based on the analysis above, the author concludes that community participation in thematic tourism programs in Golo Bilas Village, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency has been carried out well through intellectual participation, human resource participation, material resource participation and skill participation.
