Abstract
The discovery learning model is a learning model that requires students to be able to think critically in solving problems, play an active role in learning activities, be independent in searching for or finding material and can develop their creativity so that the teacher only acts as a facilitator in learning activities. contextual teaching learning is a learning strategy that emphasizes the process of full student involvement in discovering the material they are studying and connecting it with real life situations, so that students are encouraged to be able to apply it in their lives. The objectives of this research are (1) To find out the learning outcomes of class applying the contextual teaching learning model, (3). To find out whether there are differences in student learning outcomes by applying the discovery learning model and the contextual teaching learning model to the reaction rate material for class XI Science at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang. This type of research is descriptive and comparative. The sample in this study was class XI Science 1 and XI Science 2 students at SMA Negeri 2 Kupang. Data collection techniques are observation and tests. The data analysis techniques used are descriptive and statistical analysis. From the results of the data analysis, it was obtained: (1) Learning outcomes of class 2 Kupang on the reaction rate by applying the contextual teaching learning model was completed with the final score obtained being 89, (3) There were differences in student learning outcomes by applying the discovery learning model and the contextual teaching learning model on the chemical reaction rate material for class XI IPA SMA Negeri 2 Kupang with a value of tcount > ttable (3,401 > 1.980) or sig < 0.05 (0.001 < 0.05).
