Abstract

Abstract: Green betel is a type of plant that is widely known as a traditional medicinal plant. Various studies have been carried out to test the activity of the secondary metabolite compounds contained and also the types of compounds. The research carried out is a theoretical study of the antibacterial activity of green betel (Piper betle linn) and its active compounds. This research was carried out with the aim of finding out about the antibacterial activity of the green betel plant and the active compounds contained therein. The research method used was literature study. The research results show that green betel leaf extract has the ability to kill bacteria, especially pathogenic bacteria. The compounds contained in green betel leaf extract are flavonoids, alkaloids, chloramphenicol, streptomycin, tannins and eugenol.
