Abstract

Transportation is an activity of moving passengers and goods from one place to another, in which there is an element of movement (Yolanda 2016). Transportation plays a very important role in the construction and development of an area's infrastructure. A good and ideal interaction between transportation components (passengers, goods, facilities and infrastructure) forms a comprehensive, efficient and effective transportation system so that it is hoped that it will be able to optimize transportation functions in an urban area (Yolanda 2016). From the results of the discussions that have been carried out regarding the determination of public transport routes based on the travel needs of residents in the city of Kupang, the following conclusions have been drawn on routes 5 to route 6. From the results of the calculations it was found that the traffic volume was at the maximum average daily working traffic volume with a total of 16.56. ken/hour and the minimum average daily working traffic volume is 12.64 ken/hour. According to observations obtained directly from the field for 6 days from 8 May - 14 May, the biggest traffic jam was on Monday 8 May 2023 and the smallest was on Friday 12 May 2023, the high demand for one-way travel is known from route point 5 to route point 6 which connects the origin and destination points of the trip. The high level of demand in one travel distribution is considered to be a potential travel pattern for consideration in determining public transport routes.
