Abstract
Mixed ensemble music is a form of presentation of musical instruments that are played together using several types of musical instruments. Based on the results of observations and interviews, the researcher obtained information that students only performed mixed ensembles during the final semester exam. Mixed ensemble is not a type of extracurricular activity in musical arts, resulting in students' knowledge of finger etudes in ensemble music games is still very minimal. This research aims to improve balance and cohesion and to discover the obstacles experienced by students of class X of SMAK St. Francis Xaverius Ruteng using the drill and imitation method with the song model "Wela Momang". The research approach used in this study is qualitative research using the field action method with ten face-to-face learning meetings. The research subjects were 15 students who played several types of musical instruments, namely piano, keyboard, guitar, kajon, bass guitar, and maracas. Each meeting consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection techniques are carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation. The study results showed that the drill and imitation method with the song model "wela momang" was applied very well and effectively in improving the skills of playing mixed ensemble music in class X students of SMAK St. Francis Xaverius Ruteng. Students' abilities develop significantly in terms of cohesion to produce a balanced music game. In addition, students' knowledge of musical instrument etudes is growing so that it can support success in mixed ensemble music games. This shows that the drill and imitation methods used in the Wela Momang song model are a very effective learning approach in mixed ensemble music games.
