Abstract
In general, the people of Pong Leko Village perform torok in the Penti traditional ceremony because the syan that is chanted contains advice, moral teachings, thanksgiving, and social and ethical issues for the Torok community. It is sung spontaneously in accordance with the traditional ceremony that is being carried out for the Manggarai community, torok is not just cultural aesthetics, but it has quite an important cultural message. Problems raised in the una yaku research (1) What is the form of oral speech in the penti ceremony (2) What is the meaning of oral speech in the penti ceremony in Pong Leko Village, Ruteng District, Manggarai Regency? Research aims (1) To find out the form or describe the form of oral speech in the ceremony penti, (2) To find out and describe the meaning of oral speech in the penti ceremony in Pong Leko Village, Ruteng District, Manggarai Regency. This research is qualitative, using the method used, namely ethnography, the method of obtaining data is done through library research and field studies through observation and documentation. The results of the research show that the torok in the community penti traditional ceremony in Pong Leko Village, Ruteng District, Manggarai Regency is related to a moral message regarding the invitation of all Manggarai people to maintain and preserve Manggarai customs as ancestral heritage. The meaning contained in the syan torok is the meaning of safety and the meaning of protection
