Abstract
The problem that often occurs is that many students consider mathematics learning not important. There are still many students who feel uninterested in participating in mathematics learning. Mathematics is considered a noisy and boring subject that causes student learning achievement to be low. So that a problem-based learning model is needed, namely a student activity in which at the beginning of learning is given a challenging problem so that students in their group try to solve the problem. This study is a quantitative research that aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning on students' mathematics learning achievement on algebraic form material. This research was conducted at St. Joseph Naikoten Catholic Junior High School in the even semester of the 2024/2025 school year. This type of research is an experimental research with a pene design research with a pretest and posttest group research design. The population in this study is all students of class VIII C totaling 28 people. The data collection technique uses a pretest and a posttest. The data analysis technique used was to analyze the data of the prerequisite test using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and the Wilcoxon test. Based on the results of the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test on the pretest variable of 0.034 > 0.05 while the value of the posttest variable was 0.000 < 0.05. Meanwhile,in the results of the wilcoxon test using SPSS 22, it is known that the Asymp.sig value is below the value of 0.000 because the value is 0.000 < 0.05, so it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the pretest and posttest values.
