Abstract
Stabilization is an effort to improve the quality of materials so that they can meet set standards. Stabilization can be done mechanically, chemically, or mixed. Soil that will used as a subgrade for highways must meet technical requirements, if the soil in the field is very loose or very easily compressed, has an inappropriate consistency index, or has a high permeability value, then the land must be stable. The use of stabilizing materials for subgrade soils is generally varied. The use of geosynthetics for subgrade stabilization is one way to stabilize the soil. Not only the use of geosynthetics, there is also the use of plastic as a soil stabilization material. This research aims to determine the characteristics of the subgrade at the research location, determine the effect of stabilization on the value of the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) and soil bearing capacity, determine the value of the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of the subgrade using limestone stabilization and plastic reinforcement. Based on the results of the analysis and discussions that have been carried out, the characteristics of the basic soil at the research location based on the results of soil testing and classification using the USCS method are soil that contains at least a sand fraction of 79% with fine sand of 39% and coarse sand of 40% having a poor grade and classified as inactive soil, the use of limestone material as a material for soil stabilization obtained a CBR value of 38.57%. The CBR value increased by 24.36%, from the original CBR value of the base soil having a value of 14.21% and the plastic reinforcement used for soil stabilization obtained a CBR value of 48.08%, this shows that the use of plastic as reinforcement between the base soil material and also limestone is very efficient where the CBR value increases by 9.51%.
